The XV edition presents important innovations starting from the introduction of the theme of the event, which this year will be “The Voice” and that will act as a common thread to all events.

Tommaso Perazzo Pietro Martinelli 2 Palazzo Ducale Giulia Lorvich
A fresh and unconventional training to commemorate the 130th anniversary of the birth of one of the most prolific composers of American song. The formation, deliberately deprived of the battery, revisits some of the most appreciated standards resulting from the Irving Berlin pen with some original arrangements.

Piazza Sarzano – Genova –  6.30 pm

Tacking Boreas Quartet

Marco Tindiglia – guitar
Tina Omerzo – Piano, keyboard, voice
Riccardo Barbera – double bass
Rodolfo Cervetto – drum

The group consists of musicians who live in Genoa where they intertwine different musical “realities” and share a passion for improvised music.
Tacking Boreas is characterized by the search for musical tensions that find space in moments of impromptu improvisation. The voice has an instrumental role and is supportive of the melodic lines of the original compositions in which the different musical influences of the musicians are evident.

The Mississippians Jazz Ensemble

The Mississippians Jazz Ensemble

The Mississippians Jazz Ensemble is an 18-piece big band from the University of Mississippi made up of all student musicians. The origin of the group dates back to a group of students who were sponsored by the university and performed popular music at the time. As time went by, the group evolved into what it is today, resulting in one of the oldest American university jazz ensembles.
Today, the Mississippians are led by Michael Worthy, who works as an associate professor in music at the University of Mississippi, has led the ensemble since 2005, and has been working with both high school and college students on the art of jazz. The ensemble has grown to become a highly-regarded jazz group, performing at the Jazz Education Network National Conference and the Notre Dame Collegiate Jazz Festival, two significant American collegiate jazz events.

The Buddy Bolden Legacy Marchin’ Band

In the best tradition of New Orleans, the Buddy Bolden Legacy band as well as performances in clubs and theaters, also performs as a march band, bringing in the streets the joy of the carnival of the city of lily, and the poignant atmosphere of spirituals and blues of the Mississippi Delta. The Buddy Bolden legacy repertoire draws on the boundless heritage of 19th century pre-jazz American folk music, as well as the great Dixieland jazz classics of the first two decades of the 20th century. The band performs ragtime, marches, “barrell songs”, coon songs, blues, spirituals, and mistrel songs, all the elements that combine to form that wonderful “musical gumbo” that in the twentieth century will be known in the world with the name of Jazz !
